A screw conveyor is one of the most simple and practical means of transport for loose material.

It is so versatile and its investment and management costs are so low that it can be used in all industrial fields, from building to agriculture, from food to chemistry, from paper to plastics, from mining to processing.

Screw conveyors can be strongly tilted through appropriate arrangements so as to realise vertical transport.

They are used to feed, distribute, collect, extract, batch, mix, lift powder and bulk materials.

The screw is essentially made up of a helicoidal spiral – mounted on a shaft supported by bearings – the rotation of which will push the material to be transported along a channel.

Particular characteristics of the screw are simplicity of construction, the possibility of loading and unloading at any point, the easiness of achieving perfect dust-tightness and requiring little maintenance, in addition to low power installed.

Necessary power and transport capacity are mutually dependent and they depend upon operation conditions, the nature of the transported material and its dimensions.
